Exercise Aurora 2024

EVENT OVERVIEW

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are pleased to welcome industry partners to participate in Exercise Aurora at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 22 to 23 May 2024.

Participants have the opportunity to learn about space weather preparedness, response and recovery mechanisms from representatives across key industries before taking part in the exercise.

Through the National Crisis Exercising and Lessons Capability (NCEC), NEMA develops and delivers a program of national crisis exercises and capability uplift programs to support, examine and evaluate current capabilities for national-level crisis response and early recovery.

The exercise program focuses on multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency exercises with catastrophic impacts and the potential to cause nationally significant harm. NEMA engages with subject matter experts to support the design and development of exercise scenarios.

To support exercising, NEMA is developing its capability uplift program which consists of lessons management and exercise management courses currently being piloted, as well Observations, Insights, Lessons Identified and Lessons Learned (OILL) Workshops delivered nationally.

More information on Exercise Aurora can be found on NEMA’s website.

Why attend?

A catastrophic space weather event, is a low probability, high consequence hazard that has the potential to cause significant impacts to primarily the Energy and Telecommunications sectors, and secondary and tertiary interdependent sectors.

Through exercising, participants are able to test and practice their organisations response and recovery arrangements, in a national context and in a safe environment.

A key outcome of the exercise is greater national preparedness in the event of a potentially catastrophic space weather event.

Who attends?

Attendees will be emergency managers and/or technical experts with sound knowledge of agency/organisation emergency management frameworks, plans and consequence management.

Registrations are now CLOSED.
